The final report for the European Common Indicators project is available (September 2003) 
The report summarizes the outcome of the two-year process to define and use a common set of indicators for European local authorities. It also provides recommendations for the future development of the project.

The city of Oslo has based their Environment and Sustainability profile on the European Common Indicators.

Oslo has been awarded the title of "European Sustainable City 2003" (6 June 2003) 
The award is organised by the European Sustainable Cities & Towns Campaign. The city received the award 5th June from the European Commissioner for the Environment, Margot Wallström.

Tajikistan wins UNEP/GRID-Arendal web site award 
(21 May 2003)   
Tajikistan's Research Laboratory for Nature Protection was today awarded the UNEP/GRID-Arendal prize for the best official web site on the state of the environment in Central and Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States. The winners received their prize in a ceremony at the Kyiv Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe".

Also receiving special recognition were submissions from Croatia, Latvia, Macedonia, and the cities of Prague, Riga, Bishkek, and Krakow.

    External to the CEROI Programme, these activities apply the CEROI concept of harmonised on-line reporting beyond city limits.

               
    Sixteen Norwegian county SoE reports on-line
    The first sixteen Norwegian countys have now released their environmental reports on-line. The reports were created using the Publikit software, and will be available in norwegian only.
                         

    Regional Reporting in Norway
    In co-operation with the
    Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT), the CEROI concept is being adapted to facilitate regional environmental reporting from the 19 Norwegian counties. The reports will have a similar appearance and structure as the bilingual Norwegian State of the Environment report.

     
    World Heritage Convention Periodic Reporting
    In co-operation with the Nordic World Heritage Office, a pilot project is being carried out to explore the applicability of the CEROI concept for reporting to the World Heritage Convention.
