 Durban SOE report selected as an Award finalist  (June 2001)
One of 742 projects submitted from around the world, Durban has been chosen as a finalist in the 'Environment' category of the Stockholm Challenge Awards 2001.

 Tashkent, Uzbekistan and the Slovakian city of Kosice have begun preparing their SOE reports under the auspices of the ENRIN Programme.

 Geneva launches urban report on-line! (April 2001)
GRID-Geneva, the City of Geneva and the Canton of Geneva have produced the first CEROI report available in french and english.

 Urban indicators for Prague and Durban (March 2001)
See 1998 data from the capitol of the Czech Republic and this South African city here. Your city can also contribute data directly into the Indicators Database. These will be compared over time and among cities later in 2001.

 Publikit 1.4 released! (March 2001)
Improved database handling, automatically-repaired links on relocated pages, and a 'File' folder for downloads are featured.
Active Server Pages (.asp files) may also be included.

 Central Asian cities begin reporting (March 2001)
Almaty, Ashgabat, Bishkek and Dushanbe will publish their SoE reports under the auspices of the
ENRIN Programme by the end of 2001.

 On-line Discussion Fora for cities (December 2000)
This is the place for exchanging experiences and ideas on technical, indicator, SoE report-production and -effects issues. Feel free to have a look, ask a question or offer advice!

 CEROI Indicators Database and Encyclopedia launched! (November 2000)
Cities may begin entering data directly into the Indicator Database or by using Publikit 1.2. Each indicator is described in detail in the Encyclopaedia.

 SoE for Vennesla, Norway (November 2000)
Developed by students in cooperation with the municipality, this bilingual report discusses the efforts by industry to reduce waste and the effects of power lines on health.

 Publikit 1.2 released  (October 2000) 
This updated version features access to the CEROI indicators database, general template improvements and the Publikit Development Kit (PDK) for creating tailor-made templates. 

 CEROI and Publikit at UDMS 2000
(September 2000) 
CEROI participated in the
22nd Symposium of the Urban Data Management Society in Delft, The Netherlands. An important aim of the international society is to provide a forum for discussing new approaches, considering new technologies and sharing practical experiences in the field of urban data management. CEROI and Publikit were presented as tools for improving access to urban environmental information.

 State of the Environment Report for Tbilisi released  (August 2000)
The capital of Georgia is in need of developing a city environmental action plan to address urgent problems, concludes a report prepared by GRID-Tbilisi. The report highlights challenging issues such as increases in transport-related air and noise pollution, as well as in the spread of infectious diseases due to contaminated drinking water.

 SoE Kyiv available through the CEROI gateway (July 2000)
The environmental report for the capital of Ukraine has been added to the list of CEROI reports.

 Version 1.1 of Publikit released (July 2000) Publikit version 1.1 has been released.  Major new features include support for ESRI shape files, easy creation of animations and a spell check.

 CEROI presented in Australia (May 2000)
CEROI was very well received at the first national SoE conference in Coffs Harbour, Australia 3-5 May. Representatives from various councils, goverment agencies and the private sector showed great interest in the programme and gave positive feedback. CEROI participated through presentations, workshops and an information stand.

 Welcome to the new CEROI GATEWAY 
(May 2000)
With the launcing of the new web site, the CEROI Programme is now ready for implementation. The website serves as a gateway to urban environmental information and a meeting place for participating cities. 

 Hannover Conference  
(February 2000)

CEROI participated in the Third European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns, also known as the Hannover Conference 2000.
