Mapping of vegetation based on aerial spectrozonal photographs

Work on the vegetation map of Prague based on aerial spectro-zonal photographs continued also in 1997. At present, the map covers roughly 85 % of the territory of Prague save for the continuously built-up city center for which the map will not be compiled. The next phase will focus on the western edge of Prague namely the areas of Ruzyni, Liboc, Stodulky, Sobín, Toebonice, Oepy, and Oeporyje.

The mapping methodology which combines the use of aerial spectro-zonal photographs (made for the whole territory of Prague in 1996) and field survey permits to obtain a very thorough and detailed idea of the vegetation cover of a particular area. In the course of the mapping work the photograph interpreter also discovered small enclaves of a high natural value which had hitherto escaped the attention of state authorities.
