Data on the yearly production and
disposal of waste in Prague constitutes an output from the Waste
Information System operated by the Czech Environmental Institute.
The data for 1996 was obtained from waste registration forms sent to
the Prague City Hall by December 31, 1997 in accordance with
applicable legislation, i.e. Act No. 238/1991 Coll. (Waste Act),
Decree of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 521/1991 Coll.,
on the maintenance of waste-related records (Gazette of the Ministry
of the Environment of the Czech Republic, Installment 4/1993), and
Decree of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 513/1992 Coll.,
stipulating detailed terms and conditions of waste management and
handling.
