  •   What is the general situation with the noise?

    Excessive noise is perhaps a less perceived, but still very intensive factor affecting human health. In large urban agglomerations, the effect of noise is further aggravated by high concentrations of people living on a small area. In terms of noise effects on people Prague is without any doubt the worst of all regions of the Czech Republic.Prague has the highest percentage of people affected by excessive traffic-generated noise of all regions of the Czech Republic - 46 %. During rush hours, noise levels (LAeq - equivalent noise levels) along busy roads and streets attain values in excess of 80 dB (the daily limit being 75 dB).

     What is causing the problems ?
    The most important source of noise in the City is the road traffic (about 90%), exluding airport
     and its neighbours.

      What are the impacts of noise?
    A relative measure of risk of a health damage indicates that 6.3 % of Prague’s inhabitants and 3.9 % of the population of district capitals suffer from such a health damage causing by noise.

     What is being done to fix the problems ?

    At present Hygienic Regulation No. 37 which constitutes an annex to Decree of the Ministry of Public Health of the Czechoslovak Republic No. 13/1977 Coll., on protection of health against adverse effects of noise and vibrations, is still in force in our country. It also stipulates noise and vibration limits.
